Emboldening the community through poetry and spoken word

As seen in the

Quite simply, Well Versed is the very best of our community and I, and many others, believe it will go from strength to strength.

- Paul Macey, Croydon Voluntary Action

We are Darren, Justine and Natalie, aka Well Versed Ink, a Community Interest Company born from Thornton Heath Arts Week in 2014 and incorporated in 2015, which aims to embolden communities to raise their confidence and literacy skills through writing and performance.

We run workshops in schools, mental health charities and pretty much anywhere we are welcome, centred on poetry and spoken word and hold a monthly open mic poetry night at Boxpark Croydon to provide a welcoming platform for all poets.

"Well Versed had a great warm crowd with diverse poets who took to the stage.

Great atmosphere and one I would recommend for budding poets to perform at and for those who want a chilled evening of spoken word"

—  Chris Syrus, Lyricist & Public Speaker

We host workshops for children (from Year 3), young people and adults to inspire their voice and creativity to shine through via poetry and performance.

Each workshop is tailored to cater for the individual needs of each participant with strong focuses on writing and performance techniques, as well as confidence-building.
